Otherworlds Convention 2014
This April, Lunatic Events will be gathering all fans of steampunk, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, monsters, goth, and RPG, all geeks and cosplayers, for the Otherworlds Convention, to be held in Warrington, Cheshire.
Lunatic Events was founded by costumer Julie Morrisroe, who then dragged her gothic photographer friend, Amanda Norman, along for the ride. Fed up of having to travel far and wide to pursue her geek interests, Julie created Lunatic Events with the sole purpose of bringing such events to her hometown. She intends to 'be responsible for a variety of fantastical and quirky events throughout the year within the North West of England.'
As well as a whole host of traders, authors, exhibitions, and photographers, there will be guest speakers, panels, a charity auction, live RPG, and two Guiness World Record attempts: largest gathering of fairies, and an attempt to beat San Diego Comic-Con’s record for the most steampunks in one place.
The weekend will also include special effects demonstrations, cosplay and ‘Scream like a Queen’ workshops, and a zombie acting master class. Live entertainment will include Jon Scotland’s Psychic Games & Experiments, Dark Circus performances, and a film showing from award-winning independent filmmaker Chris Stone.

It’s that time of year again; tinsel and advent calendars on every shop shelf, kids praying for enough snow to close their school, otherwise rational people donning Santa and elf costumes. Yep, Christmas is on its way.
And once again, the festive season has brought with it another Facebook campaign for Christmas No 1. This year, it’s AC/DC’s Highway to Hell that is the song of choice, with the Facebook page already boasting more than 124,000 likes.
After a similar campaign in 2009, Rage Against the Machine snatched the coveted chart spot from X-Factor winner Joe McElderry with their 1992 song ‘Killing in the Name’.
Started by English DJ Jon Morter and his wife Tracy, the campaign sought to stop the seemingly inevitable claim that X-Factor had over the Christmas No 1 spot year after year. The campaign ironically gained more coverage after the man himself - Simon Cowell - slammed it as being “stupid” and “cynical”, gaining support from the likes of Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, and The Prodigy, as well as Rage themselves.
X-Factor’s Sam Bailey is the bookmaker’s favourite to win the TV talent show this year. The prison officer from Leicester is under the mentorship of Sharon Osbourne; no stranger to rock and roll herself. So will X-Factor once again prevail, or will it be another rock classic we’ll be listening to while scoffing our turkey and sprouts this year?

Grimm Season 2 Release
Rediscover an entirely secret world exposed by a dark family legacy, as the delicate balance between mankind and monsters continues to waiver, in Grimm Season 2 released on Blu-ray and DVD on 28 October 2013, from Universal Pictures.
The Primetime Emmy-Nominated series is back, along with its experienced cast: David Giuntoli (Love Bites, Eli Stone, Cold Case) as protagonist and Grimm descendent Nick Burkhardt; Russell Hornsby (Suits, Shameless, The Good Wife) as his partner Hank Griffin; and Silas Weir Mitchel (The Mentalist, Numb3rs) as reformed ‘blutbad’ Monroe.
The supernatural and mythological under-world rips away at the fabric of reality in this fantasy crime drama, as one Portland homicide detective must fight the killers that only he can see.
Plagued by his supernatural lineage, Nick must battle the fantastical creatures of German story-telling (‘Wesen’) that wear a human face, whilst fighting to keep his secret from the people he loves the most.
This season, as the hero finally comes to terms with his power and identity, he must tackle yet more gruesome and bizarre crimes committed by universally renowned and dangerously misunderstood creatures of ancient lore, on a journey through super-human amnesia, fatal potions, deadly plagues, child abductions and even UFOs!
